Highway Patrol Group-9 operatives seized yesterday a motorcycle with spurious documents.

HPG-9 operations officer Insp. Mervin Claret described the motorcycle as a silver-black Honda  with plate number IT 8982 model XRM170010522.

Claret said the possessor of the motorcycle had applied for a clearance for its shipment to Lamitan City, Basilan around 11:30 a.m. However, when checked with the  Motorvehicle Shipment Clearance, the certificate of registration was found to be spurious.

HPG 9 personnel told the person who applied for the shipment clearance that his  certification was  spurious. The motorcycle was impounded.

Sr. Supt. Severino B. Agustin, HPG-9 chief,  directed Claret to coordinate with the Police Regional Office 9 Crime Laboratory  for the conduct of macro -etching process to determine the chassis and engine number and conduct further investigation.

Meanwhile, Agustin urged motorcycle owners to be extra vigilant when parking their two-wheeled vehicles.

“They  should park where it is visible to any security personnel in the vicinity. They must put a  big lock and big chains in post  so that it  can not easily be broken by thieves,” said Agustin. — Allen Abastillas
