Being the Vice-Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations assigned on the Energy sector, Congressman Celso L. Lobregat includes in his priorities the Sitio Electrification Program.

Lobregat is actively coordinating with the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (ZAMCELCO) and concerned government agencies, particularly the National Electrification Administration (NEA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) on the immediate implementation of the Sitio Electrification Program in Zamboanga City.

As per NEA-Accelerated Total Electrification Office (ATEO), only 15 sitios were evaluated and have funding allocation out of the 80 sitios programmed for CY 2014. ZAMCELCO has to submit pertinent documents necessary prior to the evaluation of the other projects.

A total amount of P25.3M has been allocated for the 15 sitios in Zamboanga City for CY 2014. Of the total amount, P8.9M is for District I and P16.4M is for District II.

The individual allocations for the funded sitios are P2.1 million for sitio Cabonegro, Limpapa; P1.79M for sitio Fairview, La Paz; P1.15M for sitio Garnier, La Paz; P1.75M for sitio Lacumba, Limpapa; P1.2M for sitio Masalag, Limpapa and P940T for Purok 7, Limpapa for a total of P8.9M for District I.

“I will push for the provision of appropriate funding for the Sitio Electrification Program in the FY 2015 budget. I will make sure that the target sitios be energized before 2016,” Lobregat said.  — Jubels Santos
