Awards rite, lunch for BSP stakeholders held PDF Print E-mail

The  Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) hosted yesterday the 2014 Awards Ceremony and Appreciation Lunch for BSP stakeholders in Region 9 .

The awardees include two industries, one government institution and one banking association in Zamboanga Peninsula. They are Universal Canning Inc. owned by  Ms. Anita Kaw as “Outstanding Respondent for Large Firms” that supplied canned sardines to the local and world market, A. L Gonzales and Sons  Inc. owned by Atty. Arsenio Gonzales that pioneered in selling Petron Liquefied Petroleum Gas, Philippine Statistics Authority National Statistical Coordination Board under Regional Director Dr. Mewchun Pamaran as Oustanding Partner in Data Collection for Report on Regional Economic Development and the Zamboanga City Bankers and Financiers Association represented by Ruby Ann Oustanding Regional Partner in Currency Program.

The theme of the 2014 awarding ceremony that was held at the Multi-Purpose Room of BSP Zamboanga New Generation Building was “Forging Stronger Alliances, Propelling Sustainable Growth”

Keynote Speaker BSP Deputy Governoron on Resource Sector Vicente S. Aquino congratulated the awardees for their contribution in the region towards economic and financial stability.

Aquino said Region 9 is moving forward with bank deposits in the region 2013  growing by 15.7 percent from 7.9 percent in 2012. Growth Regional domestic products  in the region have increased to 4.3 percent in 2014 and  the economy is moving forward.

“Ipamigay niyo ang mga barya at gastusin at huwag gawing palamuti. Kayo ay mga bayani. You help our mandate on financial and economic stability,” Aquino said in his speech.

Gerardo S. Tison,  BSP Assistant Governor on Regional Management Affairs Sector said in his welcome remarks that Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has been rated number one bank in the world for the sixth time.

The giving of awards and recognition to institutions, individuals, government agencies, associations and stakeholders which is BSP’s contribution to economic and financial stability in the country  started in 2004.

Vicente Q. Celestial,  Acting Deputy Director of the BSP Zamboanga Branch commended the awardees: “Your role and active participation as partners in financial and economic stability in the region is very important in bringing good to people,” Celestial said. — Allen Abastillas
