A female high school student was killed when the motorcycle she was driving collided with a military vehicle along the highway in Barangay Parangbasak, Lamitan City around 6 p.m. Thursday

The fatality was identified as Nanalin Ilul, a fourth year student of the Parangbasak National School..

Lamitan City police chief Insp. Gean Gallardo said based on police investigation, Ilul made a swift left turn causing her motorcycle to collide with the KM 450 vehicle of the Army’s 18th Infantry Batallion.

Gallardo said the military vehicle was on its way to Lamitan proper when the accident happened.

The victim suffered broken skull and died on the spot.

Ilul’s family and 18th IB officials have discussed to arrange for a possible amicable settlement.

Gallardo said based on the investigation, Ilul’s error caused the accident when she made the sudden left turn.

The accident happened a day after another military figured in another highway mishap in Isabela City that killed an employee.

Raymond Mendoza of Barangay Matarling was dead on the spot when his motorcycle collided with the truck of the Army Scout Ranger in Barangay Lumbang last Wednesday. — Richard Falcatan
