Six Filipinos who were exploited in Malaysia  arrived in Zamboanga City at noon last Wednesday.
A police report identified three of the six Filipinos as Emedio Bataluna, Jr., 37, married, Junjie Casas, 33, single and Jeffrey Casas, 30, married, all of Danao, Cebu City. They appeared at the central police station to seek assistance saying that their three companions identified as Rudelio Fino Ebcas, 27, of Carmen, Cebu, Joey Tito, 31, and Levy Bagatsolon, 25, of Danao, Cebu, could leave M/L Kadzrina in Baliwasan Seaside as the ship captain prohibited them from doing so unless they will pay the fare from Malaysia amounting to PP11,000 each.

Police said the six men worked in Malaysia with no salary as they were illegally recruited here in the Philippines several months ago.

Recently they managed to escape and took the boat for Zamboanga City.
Policemen and personnel from the Visayan Forum rushed to  Baliwasan Seaside and rescued the three who were detained aboard the vessel.

The six men were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Talon-Talon prior to their return to Cebu City. — Dan Toribio Jr.
