Woman, baby son hacked dead by cousin PDF Print E-mail

A 24-year-old woman and her six-month-old son was hacked to death by their own relative over family dispute in Barangay Paglaum, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur last Sunday night.

Police identified the fatalities as Junever Talpis, single parent, and her son Yashua Ejay. Both of them succumbed to multiple hack wounds. The were attacked by first cousin Daniel Gregor Talpis.

Investigation disclosed Junever and her son were about to sleep inside the house when Daniel arrived and engaged her in a heated argument during which Daniel attacked her and her son with a sharp bolo, then fled from the crime scene.

Neighbors immediately reported the incident to the police and a manhunt operation was carried out against the fleeing suspect.

Daniel was later cornered and arrested. He told the police that he was out his mind when he committed the crime.
