The active participation of all stakeholders is crucial in the fight against criminalities and terrorism, Executive Director Felizardo  M. Serapio Jr. of the Law Enforcement Security Integration Office told participants of a law enforcement program held in this city yesterday.

Serapio said in his lecture that fighting lawlessness is not only the works of the police and the military but a joint undertaking with the people in the whole community.

“People in the street are very important in solving and fighting terrorists,” said the retired PNP general during the “Target Hardening Advocacy Campaign in Operationalizing the Whole Nation Approach against Terrorism and Criminality” program held at the Grand Astoria Hotel.

Serapio said the role of street people  like vendors, taxi drivers, tricycle drivers and others from all walks of life is very important in solving crimes.

“They are force multifliers in crime solutions. The people in the ground play a major role in solving crimes. They are the eyes and ears in solving crimes,” Serapio pointed out.

The target hardening advocacy program was attended by local leaders, stakeholders and  government agencies of Zamboanga City, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. —  Allen Abastillas
