After the successful celebration of the 16th Tuna festival  in General Santos City, the country’s Tuna Capital is  now  preparing to host a convention of the Philippine Council League of the Philippines on September 24, 2014.

The convention will be held at Green Leaf Hotel  fronting SM Mall..

The venue is walking distance from  KCC Mall and Gaisano Mall and less than a kilometer from  Robinson Mall.    Green Leaf Hotel is also beside the sports gym of world boxing icon Manny Pacquiao who is a member of the House Representatives representing the lone district of Sarangani Province.

Councilor Rommel S. Agan said the hosting by the General Santos City Council of the Philippine Councilor League of the Philippines convention is a  continuing legislative assembly education.

City Councilor League President Councilor Myra Abubakar will lead the Zamboanga contingent.

Agan explained that there will be sharing of ideas and technics on parliamentary procedure during the  convention.     Gensan’s PCCL will also tour the participants to three tourist venues such as the world famous Gensan Fishing Port and two areas in Sarangani Province on environmental legislation.

During the recent Tuna Festival, 946 tuna weighing a minimum of 25 kgs. each were displayed.

Gen. Santos City, under the leadership of Mayor Ronnel  C. Rivera, is now recognized by the Guiness Books of Records in London as having the “Largest Fish Display”. The city  has dethroned Netherlands which previously held the world record. — Allen Abastillas
