The police chief of Maluso town in Basilan and his seven security escorts were seriously injured in a road accident in Maluso Wednesday afternoon.

A police report disclosed Maluso Police Station Chief Insp. Mark Glen Molina and seven of his men were returning to Maluso after attending a conference at the PNP provincial headquarters in IsabelaCity when their vehicle crashed on a coconut tree at Sitio Bakud around 3 p.m.

Reportedly the driver of the vehicle fell as asleep and lost control of the steering wheel sending police car crashing on a coconut tree.

Molina and the other injured victims were taken to a hospital in Zamboanga City for treatment.— Richard Falcatan
