Land Transportation Office 9 Zamboanga City District Officer Noel M. Noche has advised motorcycle owners not to leave in the tool box the original copy or photo copy of the motorcycle’s certificate of registration.

Noche said that nowadays a photo copy of the certificate of registration of a motorcycle is very easy to copy or  scan in computer and make it look like the real one.

Thieves favorite targets are motorcycles because it is easy to dismantle and drive.

Noche also advised motorcycle owners to park their unit with big lock and  big chain in an area that is visible to security guards or policemen.

He said motorcycle owners must leave their original certificate of registration at home and bring only a xerox copy in their pocket.

Noche likewise advised people who are planning to acquire a secondhand motorvehicle to assert their rights  and be vigilant on the status of a unit that they are planning to buy so that they will not be cheated and their money not go to waste.

“They  must check first with the LTO-9 and  Highway Patrol Group 9  regarding the status of a secondhand motorvehicle,” he said. — Allen Abastillas
