Suspected NPA bomber nabbed PDF Print E-mail

Security forces arrested on Tuesday a suspected bomber with link to the communist New People’s Army who was caught in possession several materials to make explosive the other day.

Nabbed was Joel Sumagop y Enlab, 36, married, of Purok 3, Barangay Saad, Dumingag.

Police and military personnel  recovered from Sumagon’s possession 10sacks containing 30 blasting caps, seven arming devices,50 meters of electrical wire, 18 Eveready batteries sized “D”, one IED component, 765 rounds of cartridges of 7.62mm for AK 47, medical supplies, foodstuff, toiletries and other personal belongings.

Police and military forces were on a routine patrol in Barangay Saad when they saw two suspicious persons carrying sacks.

Police said when the two men saw the security forces, they hurriedly threw the sacks and ran away.

When checked, the lawmen discovered the sacks contained bomb materials.

The lawmen chased the suspects and managed to collar Sumagop, while his cohort eluded arrest.

Sumagon was detained pending the filing of charges against him in court. — Dan Toribio Jr.
