Zambo gets ready for Hermosa Festival ‘14 PDF Print E-mail

Preparations, planning and budgeting for the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2014 are underway with the creation of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival Committee chaired by the city government’s Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Sarita S. Hernandez.

This, as Mayor Beng Climaco has issued an executive order creating the committee that will ensure successful and peaceful festivities in honor of the feast of Zamboanga’s patron saint, Nuestra Sra. La Virgen del Pilar on October 12.

In her EO BC 68-2014 dated September 2, Climaco said the annual festival will not only revere the city’s patron saint but will endeavor as well to increase the people’s awareness and interest in the rich history and cultural heritage of Zamboanga as well as its potentials for the promotion of the local tourism industry.

As in the previous years, the event, which will run for the whole month of October, is expected to draw huge crowd of local devotees, foreign and local visitors to the historic shrine of the miraculous Our Lady of the Pillar.

The executive order has designated City Administrator Antonio Orendain Jr. to be co-chairman of the overall committee with the following special working committees, to wit:

Ways and Means Committee is chaired by City Budget Officer Virginia S.A. Gara; Events Management/Secretariat by the City Tourism Office; Security by Col. Andrelino Colina of Task Force Zamboanga and city police director Sr. Supt. Angelito Casimiro.

The Physical Arrangement is headed by City General Services Officer Rene dela Cruz and City Engineer Luis Vicente Despalo; Cleanliness/Sanitation by City Environment and Natural Resources Officer Reynaldo Gonzales together with City Health Officer Rodelin Agbulos.

Information Technology Officer Cesar Mandin and Engr. Robert Aaron Arseña will lead the technical support committee, while the City Administrator’s Office is tasked to lead the distribution of invitation and letters. Sports Committee is headed by Sports Development Officer Cecilia Atilano.

City Veterinarian Mario Arriola and Asst. City Administrator Benjamin Bermas takes charge of the Marshall and Parade Management, while City Planning and Development Coordinator Rodrigo Sicat and City Human Resource Management Officer Jane Bascar are going to head the preparation of the Main Program.

The Committee on Media Affairs, Documentation and Technical Requirements is headed by City Public Information Officer Sheila Covarrubias and Executive Assistant Christian Olasiman; Transportation Committee is headed by Supervising Administrative Officer Ronald Vicente with Executive Assistant Mario Roca taking charge of the Inter-Barangay Preparation Committee. — Vic Larato
