Bantay Dagat members in RT Lim town, Zamboanga Sibugay, together with personnel  of the Provincial Environment Resource Office (PENRO), recovered on Sunday a human skeleton at a mangrove in Diosan Islet, Barangay Magsaysay.

Police said that government personnel were conducting sticking and zoning activities at the marine protected area when they found a cellophane containing human skeleton buried in the sand.

Florenda Miral Y Rondina of Barangay Ali Alsree, RT Lim, positively identified the skeleton as that of her husband, Jigger Miral Y Ligutom, 38, a fisherman.

Florencia recognized the remains through the clothes it was clad with.

It was learned that Jigger had been missing since 2008 after he went fishing off  RT Lim and Tungawan.

Jigger’s wife believes that Jigger was killed by unidentified men who stuffed his body in big plastic bag and buried it in the mangrove. – Dan Toribio Jr.
