The Gender and Development (GAD) and the Local Council of Women (LCW) will continue to promote breast cancer awareness as it spearheads the Pink October program in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.

Dubbed as the “PINK Dance Party at Sundown”, the Pink October Month celebration will officially kick off on Wednesday, October 1, with a program and ceremonial lighting of City Hall with pink lights at 5:30 PM, and a Zumba Dance Party at 6:00 PM.

Expected to attend are the different local and national agencies and their personnel, civic groups, non-government agencies, and other members of the community. Participants are enjoined to be in pink as a sign of solidarity and support.

Aside from raising awareness on breast cancer, the activity will also serve as a fundraising event set to benefit the Oncology/Cancer Center of the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC). Cash and check donations to the cause are accepted at the Office of the City Human Resource until September 30.

The PINK Dance Party at Sundown will also serve as one of the activities which will formally open the 2014 Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.
