Dialogue set today in Zambo to discuss tourism concerns PDF Print E-mail

Tourism Regional Director Mary June Bugante is set to meet today with the different local hotel owners and tour operators to discuss several issues and concerns aimed to improve and promote of tourism in Zamboanga City.

Bugante said that all stakeholders must work hand in hand in the promotion of tourism and development of tourist sites in all prospective areas the region because by doing so, it will boost the industry and will eventually generate income for the government, livelihood and employment for the people.

Bugante will also discuss in today’s dialogue the tricycle problem especially on overcharging and hostile attitude of driver.

The cleanliness of the local environment will also be in the agenda in today’s dialogue.
Bugante said many people have complained about the attitude of several tricycle drivers in Zamboanga City, particularly those arrogant and  discourteous ones who always take advantage of their passengers.

She observed that in Dipolog City and Dapitan City, the tricycle fare is only P7 per passenger and the drivers are courteous. The same thing was observed in Ipil and Pagadian City.

“Bad tricycle drivers in Zamboanga City must be disciplined and punished because they are the show window transportation here. All stakeholders must work together to discipline bad drivers because it affects the image of Zamboanga City,” Bugante said.

The new tourism regional director is also scheduled to meet with the officers of the Zamboanga Sibugay Tourism Council to discuss vital concerns. — Allen Abastillas
