A security guard was accidentally shot and wounded by his colleague at a commercial establishment along Campaner St. on Friday.

Wounded was Ranolfo Santos, 47, married, of Upper Calarian and detailed at the Unitop Enterprises. He was accidentally shot by Jonathan Velara y Turno, 22.

Santos sustained a gunshot wound in the abdomen and was rushed to Zamboanga City Medical Center for treatment.

A police report disclosed that Santos arrived at the establishment around 7:20 p.m. to render duty as incoming guard and took the .38 cal . revolver from the guard house without asking permission from the outgoing duty, loaded it with live ammunition and placed on top of the table.

Without his knowledge, the gun was already loaded with bullets. Velara took also the said firearm and unconsciously squeezed the trigger hitting Santos.

Police took Velara for custody while the gun loaded with four bullets and one spent shell inside the cylinder was taken to the PNP crime laboratory for examination. – Dan Toribio Jr.
