Lobregat spearheads forum on proposed Bangsamoro law today PDF Print E-mail

District I Representative Celso Lobregat will spearhead a forum on House Bill 4994 also known as the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), 1:30pm, Monday, September 29,  at the Centro Latino in Paseo del Mar.

Multi-sectoral groups in the city have been invited to attend the forum where the provisions of the proposed law will be properly ventilated. The forum will also be the time for the different sectors to present their stand on the proposal.

House Bill 4994, an act providing for the Basic Law for the Bangsamoro and abolishing the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, repealing for the propose Republic Act 9054, entitled “an Act  to Strengthen and Expand the Organic Act for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao,” and Republic Act 6734, entitled “An Act Providing for an Organic Act for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao” and for other purposes, was filed on September 11, 2014 and referred to the House Ad Hoc Committee on the Bangsamoro Basic Law.

Lobregat, who sits as member of the Ad Hoc Committee is initiating the forum to hear the views and position of the different sectors on the proposed BBL.

Well-versed on the issue of the proposed BBL, the District I congressman has been invited to various forum and meetings in the city and other parts of the country to enlighten the audience about the proposed law and the possible repercussions if and when it is approved. Since the beginning, the solon has formally called the attention of the groups involved in the negotiation about his apprehensions on various contentious issues in the proposed measure. — Melcah Yee
