Zambo City teems with ‘Fiesta Hermosa” activities PDF Print E-mail

Zamboanga City will be in a festive mood this whole month of October as the series of activities for the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival also known as Fiesta Hermosa 2014 kick off today with the theme “Levanta con Fuerza y Fe; Marcha con Alegria, Devocion y Unidad”.

Ongoing since Sept. 28 until today is the First Zamboanga City Tango Festival 2014 from 10 am to 8 pm at Regency Astoria Hotel in Pasonanca.

Oct. 1-31 is Beauty, Health & Wellness Solution at Biocare in La Hermosa Zamboanga City, and “Sophia Orgullo de Zamboanga- Treasures that Last forever Fiesta Sale.

Oct. 1-12- the Zamboanga Camera Club sponsors a photo competition dubbed “Colores del Fiesta Hermosa”.

The Pink October Month, a breast cancer awareness campaign, opens at 5 pm in front of City Hall, and at 7 pm the city government sponsors an exposition of religious icons billed “Las Cruces, Nuestra Vida y La Gloria” by Gerry Atilano at Garden Orchid Hotel.

The “Miss Zamboanga” pageant will be held tomorrow, Oct. 2, at Astoria Tegency Convention Center; Oct. 2-3- “Conferencia de Cultura, Artes y Historia del Zamboanga”; Oct. 2-15- “Cosechas de Zamboanga”; Oct. 3- the Fashion Show by Monching Fernandez at Astoria Regency, and Oct. 3-4- the 21st Western Mindanao Masonic Convention at the Garden Orchid Hotel’s Convention Center.

The daily procession is scheduled for Oct. 3-11 from the Immaculate Concepcion Metropolitan Cathedral to the Fort Pilar Shrine.

The Children’s Month opens on Oct. 4 with a fitting program at the city coliseum in Tetuan. Also on Oct. 4 at 6 pm is the 2014 Zamboanga’s Little Princess Grand Coronation at Grand Astoria Hotel; Oct. 4 at 3 pm is Pet Parade and Blessing at Jardin Maria Clara in Pasonanca.

Other activities for Oct. 4 will include the Color Fun Run, Motorshow, 3rd Teachers’ Summit, Cooperative Month and the 2014 Fiesta Hermosa Shooting competition.

Oct. 5- search for Zamboanga Top Model at Astoria Regency; Oct. 6 is a non-working Muslim holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha or Feast of Sacrifice.

Oct. 7- the 2014 Zamboanga Hermosa Queen of Festival pageant will unfold at 8:30 pm at Astoria Regency. The Regional Trade Exposition is set for Oct. 8-11 at the Convention Center of Garden Orchid Hotel.

Oct. 8- Servicio Medical na Fiesta Pilar from 8 am to 5 pm, and the annual Chabacano Music Festival at 7 pm at Centro Latino.

Oct. 9- the yearly “Wow Sardinas Festival” at 5 pm at Paseo del Mar, and search for Miss Southway Square 2014 at 7 pm at Astoria Hotel.

Oct. 10- Parada de Volkswagen en honor de Nuestra Señora La Virgen del Pilar from 8 am to 5 pm; Motorcade (autocross) at 3:30 pm, Chabacano Battle of the Bands (elimination round) at 7 pm at Big Dawgs in Pasonanca; Oct. 10-12- Mundo de fotografia at Garden Orchid Hotel.

Oct. 11- Autocross for a Better Zamboanga at the port area and the vinta sail competition popularly known as Regatta de Zamboanga at 8 am on R.T. Lim Boulevard; Baile de Festival (street dance showdown at 3 pm at ZC Coliseum in Tetuan; Oct. 11-12 “Copa del Alcalde” golf tournament at the Zamboanga Golf Course and Country Club.

Oct. 12 is the feast of the city’s patron saint, the miraculous Our Lady of the Pillar. City Hall will be open to the public at 4 p.m.; Talk ‘n Text Panalo ka Pilipinas Fiesta Tour from 10 am to 11 pm at Gov. Camins Ave.

Oct. 13-17- the 9th Mindanao Cave Forum from 8 am to 5 pm; Oct. 20-24- the 15th Mindanao Sulu Pastoral Conference at Centro Pastoral; Oct. 21-23- the Mindanao Visual Arts Festival 2014 “Mindanao Art Best” at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University.

Oct. 25- the Children’s Congress at 8 am at Centro Pastoral and the Hip Hop competition at 3 pm at Terracotta Social Hall in Tumaga.

Oct. 26- the Shake, Rattle and Run (6k fun run) at Forest Lake Park at 5 am and the Fun Walk for Children at 6 am at Centro Pastoral.— Vic Larato
