In preparation for incoming typhoon “Chedeng,” the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is set to activate its Command Centers in all areas within the typhoon’s path, including the Overall Command Center (OCmC) located at its Head Office, Power Center, Diliman Quezon City 24 hours before the estimated landfall of the typhoon. This is to ensure that all necessary preparations and precautions are implemented to minimize the impact of the said typhoon on  NGCP operation and facilities.

As part of the contingency measures called for under NGCP’s Integrated Typhoon Action Plan (ITAP), the monitoring of typhoon “Chedeng” using NGCP’s Enterprise Geographic Information System (EGIS) Mapviewer has already begun, and all maintenance works will be suspended 48 hours before the estimated typhoon landfall.

NGCP is further implementing various contingency measures which will ensure the availability of telecommunication facilities, equipment, tools and vehicles at all times while the typhoon is within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The availability of materials and supplies necessary for the repair of possible damage to facilities, as well as the positioning of line crews in strategic areas, is currently being coordinated to facilitate the immediate restoration of damaged facilities in affected areas.
