DOT-9 holds tourism awareness, capability building seminar in ZN PDF Print E-mail

The Department of Tourism-Region-9 (DOT-9) conducted the Tourism Awareness and  Capability Building Seminar last September 23-25, 2014 at Top Plaza Hotel, Dipolog  City. It was attended by 33 tourism professionals from various local government units of Zamboanga del Norte.

DOT-9 Tourism Operations Officer II, Mr. Wenceslao Z. Galeza, Jr., opened the event with a welcome message. He also presented the following topics: Overview of Philippine Tourism Industry, Tourism Products and Services, Tourist Behavior Patterns, Market Profile and Tourism Marketing, Gender and Development, and Tourism  Planning. DOT9 Data Controller II, Mr. Charles Anthony C. Rotoni, then discussed the  DOT Standards, Regulations and Accreditation System. Afterwards, Mr. Jason A. Domingo of the National Bureau of Investigation presented on Tourist Safety and

Security. Furthermore, Mr. Donald I. Balanhi of the DOT Office of Tourism Standards  and Regulations discussed Tourism Investments and Child Wise Tourism while DOT accredited speaker Mr. Carlos B. Garcia, Jr. talked about Values Formation and Effective Customer Service. Lastly, Ms. Aurea B. Lopez of the National Commission for  Culture and the Arts discussed Festival Planning and Handling.

The seminar was conducted to promote tourism awareness among tourism professionals in the region, specifically Zamboanga del Norte, and equip them with  knowledge on how to provide efficient and professional services to tourists.

The participants of the seminar were from the municipalities of Salug, Godod, Sirawai, Gutalac, Manukan, Baliguian, Liloy, Mutia, Jose Dalman, Siayan, Labason, Sibutad,  Sindangan and Libertad, Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Government, Dapitan City  Tourism Office, Dipolog City Tourism Office and Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group.
