The foremost Liong Tek (Go) Family Fraternity will hold its 34th National Convention to coincide with the local chapter’s 45th founding anniversary with some top officers and clan members from all over the country in attendance.

Businessman Raymond C. Go, president of the fraternity’s local chapter, said more than 200 members most of whom considered leaders in various fields of endeavor like banking, shipping and other leading industries are expected to attend.

The three-day activity from October 3-5, 2014 is such awaited event of closely knitted family which aside meeting and renewing ties, will also give clan members the opportunity to discuss pressing issues, plans and other concerns related to the association’s commitment to serve mankind.

Go said Liong Tek which has existing chapters all over Asia and North America traces its family roots to the city of Jinjiang in the outskirts of Xiamen, People’s Republic of China.

He said the annual event will hopefully serve as an opportunity for the visitors to see for themselves the real situation here following the MNLF siege last year. Likewise showcase local resident’s hospitality which is known far and wide.

A tour to the city’s tourist spots and historical landmarks to include a side trip to the war-torn village of Rio Hondo, Sta. Barbara and Sta. Catalina as well as world’s famous Fort of the Lady of the Pillar and Sta. Cruz Island scheduled as among the program of activities.

Highlighting the affair will be a get-together on Sunday marking the founding anniversary wherein officers or members of known existing clans in this city were invited to join the hosting and visiting family to a semi-formal evening affair at Garden Orchid Hotel.

“This modest gesture of sincerely inviting them to the affair is our simple way of saying - we are not alone,” Go concluded.
