A young man was arrested by the police after he stole a small guinea pig from a pet shop along Mayor Jaldon Street (Sucabon) at noon yesterday.

The suspect was identified as Louie Auba, 22, single, of Sinunuc. Recovered from his possession was the guinea pig he stole from Water World pet shop.

Mateo Rosalita, caretaker of the shop, told the police that he and other store attendants were busy with their tasks when Auba arrived and suddenly opened one of the cages and took the guinea pig.

Rosalita said he and other store workers chased Auba and timely policemen on foot and mobile patrol passed the area and collared him.

Auba was taken to the central police station for investigation and filing of appropriate charge against him in court.

Auba told the police that he stole the pet animal with the intention of selling it and use the money to buy food to feed him. — Dan Toribio Jr.
