City Police Director Sr. Supt. Angelito Casimiro said yesterday that his men are still in full alert and tight security measures are still in place.

“Tuloy-tuloy  itong security measures namin after the Zamboanga Hermosa Fiesta Pilar celebration dahil sa mga activities na darating tulad  ng All Saints Day and All  Soul’s Day or ‘Undas’.  Then susunod naman ang Boyscout Jamboree  and Yuletide and Christmas season,” Casimiro said in an interview.

He said his men are poised to secure and protect the city “with the best that they can within their best of ability.”

“We continue securing all public places like terminals, ports, downtown areas, schools  and religious sites to ensure that people are safe and secured.. .We are closely coordinating with the Task Force Zamboanga, K9 teams, Explosive Ordnance  Unit and  other law enforcement agencies to secure the city,” Casimiro said.

The police chief thanked the city government, saying that without its support, the police will not be successful in their mission and tasks.

Casimiro however said that due to extensive and elaborate security measures that involve expenditures, his office is somewhat experiencing funding problem, especially for food supplies of police patrol units. — Allen Abastillas
