Officers and members of the Zamboanga JCI (Junior Chamber International) Senate honored Reymundo S. Chin, whom they considered as a local hero for giving his life to save a mother and her two children from raging and turbulent water at the river of Barangay Pamucutan on August 21.

A posthumous award and cash were handed over to Reymundo’s wife Magdalena Chin, sister Maria Susana Chin and son Reymark by the Zamboanga JCI Senate headed by its president Nathaniel Asuncion during JCI Senate Zamboanga’s 10th general membership meeting last October 18 at Casa Maria Pensione in Sta. Maria.

The late Reymundo, a  48-year-old mechanic from Pamucutan, rescued a woman and her two children trapped on a violent river but later got himself washed away by the strong water current. His body was recovered five days later.

“It was a heroic act!” said former Zamboanga City mayor Vinnie Atilano and past president of the JCI Senate who sponsored the resolution for the posthumous award.

Also present during the simple awarding ceremony were JCI Senators Leonard Ong, Reynaldo Lim, Allan Alabata, Ernie Miranda, Mannix Dalipe, Max Enriquez, Tony Lim, Daihan Graciano, Rudy Fulminar, Cef Go, Rocky Manuel, Joe Sunaz, Bienvenido Orillo, Atty. Orlando Ong, Bernard Ong, Norman West, Marlo Atilano and  Robert Enriquez.
