Around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, a prompt message from personnel stationed at the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) was relayed to the Senior Public Relations Officer who then, in turn, forwarded the same message to Zamboanga City Water District’s media partners.  A local radio station then carried the information and captured footage of the incoming flood from the Tumaga River.

The Tumaga River had a critical water level of 75.60 meters yesterday, for which normal level is at 74.20 meters.   This information was also immediately sent to all punong barangays to facilitate faster dissemination of information to residents for careful evacuation.

An immediate response was also gathered from various emergency teams in Zamboanga City, who were also on the alert with regard to the situation. For its part, city government dispatched an alert crew for necessary action.
