Two men were killed in separate gun attacks in Mercedes and Boalan Thursday night.

Arnel Casimiro y Araneta, 37,married, of Lumbayao, Mercedes, and a driver of habal-habal, was shot and killed by his passenger who took his motorcycle around 7:30 p.m.

Initial investigation disclosed that Casimiro picked at the intersection of Mercedes and Talabaan a male passenger who told him to  drive him to  the interior of Sitio Mulu-Muluan.

The passenger told Araneta to stop at a dimly lit part of Mulu-Muluan, near a tamarind tree, where he shot twice in the head.

When Casimiro fell on the ground, another man appeared from the dark and boarded the victim’s motorcycle along with the gunman.

Police recovered at the crime scene.a spent shell of an unknown gun caliber.

Edgardo Paelmariano y Alfonso, of Tagasilay and a stay-in employee of 3 Marias Coco Lumber located at Putik-Tumaga, was shot dead by a gunman around 10:40 p.m. at Sitio Asinan, Boalan.

Isidro Rodriguez, a habal-habal driver, told the police that he was waiting for passengers at the entrance of Sitio Asinan when he saw two men having a conversation at a dimly lit area. Moments later he heard several gunshots.

Paelmariano was later discovered wounded on the ground and was rushed to the hospital where hewas declared dead on arrival.

Recovered at the crime scene were six spent shells and two live ammunition of .45 caliber pistol. — Dan Toribio
