DPWH conducts consultation-study on Zambo rivers PDF Print E-mail

The Department of Public Works and Highways central office has conducted a  consultation and study with all stakeholders in Zamboanga City who are concerned and responsible for the preservation of the rivers of Pasonanca, Tumaga, Sta. Maria, Tetuan, Tugbungan going to Zambowood.
The DPWH study also involved ways to protect people living in along riverbanks.

The participants in the consultation were officials from the different barangays, local government units, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, DPWH and others.

DPWH District Engineer Merham Acas said that  only Zamboanga City and Cotabato City were the subject of the consultation and study, the purpose of which is to gather information on what structures to be constructed in riverbanks on the said barangays for flood control, water siltation and similar others.

Acas appealed to people living along riverbanks to preserve the rivers by not throwing garbage, constructing hard structures that cause flooding and obstruct water flow, observing easement and to stop illegal quarrying. — Allen Abastillas
