Brgy chief, 2 others hurt in Isabela City gun attack PDF Print E-mail

A barangay chairman and two others were wounded in fresh gun violence in Isabela City, Basilan yesterday afternoon.

Wounded were Franklin Galos Tan, 33, chairman of Barangay Seaside,  Myrna Belermino Sali,39, married, a vendor of Malamawi Island and Joseph Sumalpong y Villasorda, 20, a resident of Lunzuran, Zamboanga City.

Police said Tan sustaind four gunshot wounds on his body and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Sali was wounded on her right hand and Sumalpong suffered injury on his left thigh.

According to investigation, Tan was standing at RM Store located along Valderroza St., Barangay Port Area around 2:40 p.m. when gunmen aboard a Honda XRM motorcycle opened fire on him.

Apparently the two other victims were hit by stray bullet.

Recovered at the attack scene were eight empty shells and one slug of cal. 45. pistol.

Police were still trying to detrmine the motive as well the identities of the gunmen.  — Richard Falcatan
