266 jail inmates get free medical, dental services PDF Print E-mail

A total of 266 inmates of the Zamboanga City Jail  benefited from a free medical and dental outreach mission held yesterday  in connection with the celebration of “Correctional Week’.

Supt. Abita Mates, chief,  Philippine National Police-Regional Health Service 9, said the outreach mission was a continuation of another outreach that held Saturday at the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Barangay Talisayan.    The mission was Joined by the Philippine Air Force Edwin Andrews Air Base Hospital medical -dental  team led by Maj. Nelson Posadas and the Zamboanga City Health Office.

Mates the 129 inmates availed of a free tooth extraction. Out of 129 inmates,  57 were females.

Chief Insp. Modesto Mecaydor said that 137 other inmates were given free medical examinations and consultations. Out of 137 inmates 43 were females and 94  were males.

Mecaydor said during the medical examinations and consultations, common illnesses were observed like sore eyes,  Upper Respiratory Track Inspections ( URPTI ),  hypertension, arthritis, asthma  and kidney problem.

After they were diagnosed, the inmates were given propermedications and instructions on what medicines to take for recuperation. — Allen Abastillas
