Zamboanga’s finest continue to demonstrate their commitment to their sworn duty to uphold law and order in the city as well as protect the residents.

Joining Mayor Beng Climaco during last Monday’s press briefing at City Hall, City Director Sr. Supt. Angelito Casimiro presented the accomplishments of the Philippine National Police (PNP) operatives covering the period from October 13-26.

Having intensified their campaign against illegal drugs, twenty-three operations were carried out resulting in the arrest of forty-three suspects and the confiscation of eighty sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia and marked money.

Three suspects fell in four operations against illegal gambling, where three slot machines, gambling paraphernalia for swertes and P361 in cash were seized.

Three illegal firearms – one 19mm, one caliber 45 and one improvised shotgun – were recovered in three operations. Five persons were arrested.

Ten operations against wanted persons yielded in the arrest of ten suspects.

Armed with search warrants, two persons were arrested in two separate operations. One fragmentation grenade and five blasting caps were confiscated from the suspects.

Three stolen motorcycles were recovered in three operations, resulting in the arrest of four suspects.

An operation yielded in the fall of two suspected human traffickers and the rescue of their four victims. — Claudine Uniana
