Two persons were killed yesterday in fresh gun violence that erupted two days after a barangay chairman and two others were wounded in gun attack in Isabela City, Basilan.

Killed in yesterday daylight shooting were Taiti Omar and Tuan Mandukin, both of Lantawan municipality.

Police said Omar and  Mandukin were walking around 2:30 p.m. along Tugung St., Kaumpurnah Zone 1 when a lone gunman opened fire on them at close range. Both sustained gunshot wounds in the different parts of the body

Recovered at the scene were five empty shells and 2 deformed slugs of .45 cal. pistol.

Investigators were still working on the case.

Last Monday, a barangay chairman and two others were shot and wounded in downtown Isabela City.

Wounded were Franklin Galos Tan, 33, chairman of Barangay Seaside,  Myrna Belermino Sali,39, married, a vendor of Malamawi Island and Joseph Sumalpong y Villasorda, 20, a resident of Lunzuran, Zamboanga City.

Tan sustaind four gunshot wounds on his body Sali was wounded on her right hand and Sumalpong suffered injury on his left thigh.

Tan was standing at RM Store located along Valderroza St., Barangay Port Area around 2:40 p.m. when gunmen aboard a Honda XRM motorcycle opened fire on him.

The two other victims were hit by stray bullets.

Recovered at the attack scene were eight empty shells and one slug of cal. 45. pistol. — Richard Falcatan
