Celso addresses Mindanao Electric Cooperatives on BBL PDF Print E-mail

District 1 Rep. Celso Lobregat spoke before the Association of Mindanao Electric Cooperatives (AMRECO) and other stakeholders of the power industry regarding the Bangsamoro Basic Law in Cagayan de Oro City last Thursday, Oct. 30.

The venue was at Mallberry Suites, Limketkai, Cagayan de Oro City.

The forum, dubbed as the 3rd Mindanao Congress of Advocates for Renewable Energy and Rural Electrification and Development (MINCARED) was attended by more than 300  hundred participants from all over Mindanao.

Cong. Lobrgat was invited as one of the resource speakers and was asked to speak about the Agus-Pulangi Privatization and Bangsamoro Basic Law: Its Implications to Mindanao Power.

Lobregat’s 40-minute Powerpoint presentation consisted of part  s—the opening message, Tying Down the Hands of Congress and Everybody Else, Area and Plebiscite, Issue on Power, The Intergovernmental Mechanism and What Now What Next. The presentation was very informative and very well received.

The speakers in the 3-day program included Sergio S. Dagooc, President of AMRECO, Dr. Ricardo Rotoras, President of Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST), Clint Django Pacana, Secretary General MINCARED, Cong. Edgardo Masongsong, I-Care Party List, Mr. Edicio De la Torre and NEA Administrator Edita Bueno.

The topics covered were Climate Change, Renewable Energy, the Current Power Crisis, Rural Electrification and the Proposed Bangsamoro Law.

The MINCARED was organized by AMRECO, MUST, Mindanao Development Authority (MINDA) and the Institute of Power Technology. — Melcah Yee
