ZC Jail bags awards in 23rd BJMP-9 anniv PDF Print E-mail

The Zamboanga City Jail bagged the most number of awards during the 23rd Regional Anniversary of Bureau of Jail and Management and Penology held last week in Pagadian City.

The facility itself was awarded as the City Jail of the Year while the Zamboanga City Female Dormitory inside Zamboanga City Jail bagged also the Female Dormitory of the Year Award.

Aside from these unit award, an individual award was also given to the warden of Zamboanga City Jail headed by Jail Chief Inspector Julius Arro who was recognized as the City Jail Warden of the Year.

“We really deserve these awards because we believe that we have been very consistent in implementing the programs of the facility as mandated by the bureau”, Arro proudly said.

He added that under his administration, the facility had bagged these awards for two consecutive years.

Arro thanked his 85 personnel who have continued to exert efforts in areas of safekeeping and development of the inmates and instituting reforms to meet public expectations.

Arro assured that all the personnel of ZC Jail will continue to provide the best service that they can do to their clients, the inmates. Through the continued dedication of all the employees and with the strong partnership with the stakeholders, they will continue to address the challenges ahead and strive further to maintain a well-secured atmosphere in the jail facility.

Furthermore, the local government of Zamboanga also received the special award for consistently supporting the facility with allowance for the personel, regular operational supplies, food supplies during the Zamboanga Siege and ready support in terms of security and control during the threats and crisis.

Regional Director Nimfa Torizo of Department of Health was also another recipient of the special award who facilitated the allocation of funds amounting to P438,490.50 for the construction of 2 cells intended for PTB inmates of Zamboanga City Jail.

Lastly, International Committee of the Red Cross also received same award for donating food supplies, toiletries, slippers, utensils, water container and similar items to ZC Jail inmates. They also provided funds for the construction of control gates, installation of steel matting in railings, catwalks and canopies around the jail.

The theme for this year’s anniversary was “Bawat isa’y Mahalaga sa Maayos na Pamamahala ng Piitan at Pagtahak sa Matuwid na Daan”.
