The Jikiri team grabbed the crown in the “2014 Pacman Basketball Cup” during a championship game at the Golden Boys the other night.

It was a close game between the teams of Jikiri and Razdeen during the first quarter of the game as former led a half shot with a score of 28 points against the latter’s 27 points.

But Jikiri’s top players strengthened their defense and fast-break which led to a final score of 110 against 73 in the fourth quarter.

Jikiri team won the championship crown with a cash prize and a big trophy.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award went to Paul Santiago from Manila and the Season MVP went to Neil Jumuaos from Boalan, this city.

The “Best Import” was awarded to Mike Harry while the Mythical Five went to Jun-Jun Jalani, Badon, Red Delos Santos, Mike Harry, Aimar Tandih.

Three-point King is Bon Basiri and the best in Uniform was the Razdeen Team.

The event organizer Rolando “Junie” Navarro said there will be more games to be held in the city as he thanked Congressman and World Boxing pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao for the support.

“It’s a nice result as Zamboangueños jampacked this venue for the championship game,” Navarro said.

He said this coming December there will be sports science and basketball clinic to be conducted by PBA players.

“There will be a continuity of games in the city by January of 2015, a big tournament will see action with a huge cash prize and trophy for the champion,” Navarro said. — Monch L. Follosco
