A 15-year old boy died of suffocation inside their house that was on fire at Sitio Aplaya, Manicahan at dawn yesterday.

The fatality was identified as Kenneth Pagaronan. Their housemaid whose identity was not immediately known, also sustained injury and burns in the body.

A police report disclosed that the fire started before 1 a.m. at the second floor of the Pagaronan residence.

It was gathered that Kenneth and other occupants of the house rushed out of theburning house, but the 15-year-old boy returned to get his personal belongings. However he was trapped inside his bedroom that was surrounded by flames. He collapsed and lost consciouness due to suffocation.

Police said Kenneth’s body was retrieved after the fire was placed under control.

Fire investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the fire and how much worth of properties were destroyed.

Meanwhile, the house of Lito Perez, a government employee, was razed by fire that broke out around 8 p.m. in Tugbungan.

Occupants of the house failed to salvage their belongings as the flames rapidly spread and consumed the entire house that was made up of light materials. — Dan Toribio
