This year’s 20th annual Week of Peace celebration will kick off with the traditional grand parade today, November 27.

Thousands of students, government workers, civil society and religious leaders and representatives, soldiers, policemen, urban poor and others are expected to take part.  They will start off at 7:00 AM from Centro Pastoral along Gov. Camins Avenue and march to the Pasonanca Park.  A program will be held there, at the Boy Scout amphitheater.

Fr. Angel Calvo, lead convenor of the organizing-sponsoring group Interreligious Solidarity for Peace (ISP), said this year’s celebration theme is “Healing the Past, Building the Future”. The theme will underscore the immediate need to help the city, especially the direct victims of last year’s MNLF violence in the city, to rebuild the community and rehabilitate the internally displaced persons, Fr. Calvo said.
