A businessman and an ex-convict were shot and wounded by their drinking pal at Bagong Dalan Drive, Talon-Talon last at dawn yesterday.

The victims were identified as Narciso Espinosa y Fuentes, 37, married and Jimmy Oportu y Rivera, 37, an ex-convict. Both are residents of the said place.

They were shot by Franklin Fernandez y Gardose, 22, single, also an ex-convict.
A police report disclosed that the three came from a drinking spree in one of the beerhouses along  Tomas Claudio St. and while they were on their way home at Bagong Dalan, Talon-Talon, Oportu pulled out a .38 cal. revolver and boastfully showed it to Espinosa and Fernandez. Fernandez tried to take the gun from Oportu’s hand but it accidentally went off hitting the latter’s stomach. When Oportu fell on the ground, Espinosa ran away but Fernandez took the gun chased and shot him in the mouth. The bullet exited in his nape.

Espinosa and Oportu were taken to the Zamboanga City Medical Center.
The Tetuan police conducted a follow-up operation resulting in the arrest of Fernandez. Recovered from his possession was the .38 cal. revolver used in the shooting. — Dan Toribio Jr.
