An army soldier was held yesterday morning at the local wharf for possession of a questionable gun.

Pvt. Alwyn Villafuerte, Jr. of the 35th Infantry Battalion based in Jolo, Sulu was brought to the city police office for interrogation.

Security personnel detailed at the entrance of the port terminal said that Villafuerte was already inside the waiting area as he was bound for Jolo when he went out to buy boat ticket.

Upon his return at the terminal, personnel who were assigned to inspect travellers  noticed his bulging waist.

When frisked, a 45 caliber pistol with seven rounds of ammunition was recovered from him.

Villafuerte could not produce documents legalizing him to carry and possess gun.—  Dan Toribio
