NPA rebels abduct 2 soldiers PDF Print E-mail

Troopers from the 10th Infantry Division are now conducting pursuit operations against 15 heavily-armed rebels who abducted two soldiers in Barangay San Roque, New Corella town, Davao del Norte early Tuesday morning.

1st Lt. Vergel U. Lacambra, 10th Infantry Division public affairs office chief, said the abducted troopers are from the 60th Infantry Battalion and the rebels posed as banana plantation workers.

Lacambra said the rebels took the troopers at gunpoint around 4 a.m. and made their getaway aboard a stolen Elf truck (PKB-360).

He added that the NPAs fled toward the direction of Barangay Napungas, Asuncion town, Davao del Norte.

The 10th Infantry Division public affairs office chief said that troops were securing the nearby airstrip which has been under constant threat of sabotage and extortion by the rebels.
