The Zamboanga City Water District in a bid to improve the pipeline rehabilitation program of the office, finally completed the installation of its own Mobile Asphalt Batching Plant on October 18, 2014. The project’s cost is P8.8M to include the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the plant by Project Management and Technical Services Corporation, a supplier based in Manila.

Previous to the acquisition of the batching plant, ZCWD had difficulty in completing several pipeline rehabilitation works, to include the projects in Mayor Jaldon Street, San Jose Road and Mayor Cesar C. Climaco Avenue, that needed asphalt restoration works in 2013. The delay on the completion of the projects were due to failure in the bidding process in contracting services for asphalt restoration works, which caused inconvenience to motorists and the riding public as a whole.

Having its own mobile batching plant will mean faster and efficient restoration works by ZCWD. This 2014, restoration work of the Dulian Water System is the first project to benefit the use of the ZCWD batching plant.

The plant is located in Mercedes, a barangay in the east coast area about 9.82kilometers from the city proper.
