Malacañang has announced the official schedule of holidays this Christmas based on Presidential Proclamation numbers 655 and 831 –all series of 2014.

December 24 and 26 are declared as special non-working holidays as well December 31.

December 25, Christmas Day is a regular non-working holiday as well as December 30 which is Rizal Day. January 1, New Year’s Day is also a regular non-working holiday.  Dec. 27 is a Saturday and Dec. 28  is a Sunday.

Employees however, will have to report for work on December 23 and Dec. 29 which are regular working days under the said presidential proclamation.

The office of the City Mayor got hold of a copy of the list of official holidays for the month of December through the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

As this developed, Mayor Beng Climaco has asked City Government employees to use the holidays in productive activities with sympathy to those considered marginalized and victims of calamities.

She urged them to share their blessings to the poor and the needy and to spend quality time with family and loved ones. — Sheila Covarrubias
