13 more arrested in anti-drugs ops PDF Print E-mail

At least 13 suspected drug pushers were arrested over the week as the Zamboanga City Police Office stepped up its operations against illegal drug trade in this part of the region.

In his report during a press briefing yesterday, City Police Director Sr. Supt. Angelito Casimiro said the police anti-drug unit  conducted 12 operations that resulted in the arrest of 13 suspects who yielded 21 sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia and marked money used in the buy busts.

He identified those arrested as Arnulfo Angeles, Benjamin Hamis, Regie Pacis, Leo Palangca, Nurhada Tamsi, Benhar Sappayani, Dominador Montuno, Omar Dammang, Momal Jihal, Erbert Carpizo and Jinul Alam.

Meanwhile, Casimiro reported that police operatives from Tetuan also confiscated a total of 150 sacks of alleged smuggled rice loaded in three vehicles in Barangay Kasanyangan. The sacks of rice were turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.

On the Illegal quarrying campaign, the in Sta. Maria police confiscated 61 sacks of sand and gravel quarried from the river bank of Salum in Barangay San Roque.

The traffic division, on the other hand, conducted 143 operations and issued citation tickets to 650 violators, while 65 others were issued temporary operating permits.

Yesterday’s press briefing was held at Astoria Plaza of Grand Astoria Hotel as it coincided with Mayor Beng Climaco’s annual Christmas party for members of the Fourth Estate in Zamboanga City.

Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde was also on hand to assist the mayor. — Vic Larato
