The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has distributed Wednesday P476,568 worth of livelihood starter kits to 48 individuals in this city.

Ian Lahi, head of DOLE-Zamboanga City office, said that 31 of the 48 beneficiaries are internally displaced persons (IDPs), nine displaced workers and eight home-based or walk-in clients.

The beneficiaries were properly assessed by the DOLE and qualified to avail of the program.

Lahi said the livelihood starter kits include oven, pressure cooker, mixers, pots, pans, rice cooker and other kitchen utensils.

“They can use the starter kits to start a livelihood of their own to sustain their daily needs,” Lahi said.

He advised the beneficiaries to put to good use the livelihood starter kits given them.

He said they will monitor the livelihood of the beneficiaries to ensure the success of the program. — RGAAG
