Winners in ‘Pascua na Zambo’ contests bared PDF Print E-mail

The City Government on Tuesday announced and awarded winners to the different competitions held in line with Pascua na Zamboanga 2014.

Foremost in the list of competitions was the Christmas landmark competition that was participated by a total of 10 barangays from both the east and west coasts of the city.

Barangay Manicahan bested other contestants and brought home the grand prize of P75,000 with barangay Sta. Maria coming in second with a prize of P60,000. Barangay Sinunuc came in third with P50,000.

In the open lantern competition, the entry of Anie Alama of Sta. Maria stood out among all the other entries. Alama went home with P10,000 cash  while Arnel Palacio of Camino Nuevo     placed second with P7,000 cash prize and Acezy Duka of Pasonanca ranked third with P5,000.

Fourth place winner was Rogelio Elumbra of Lunzuran with a cash prize of P3,000 and Robinson Sta. Rita of Mampang came in fifth with P2,000 cash prize.

The WMSU Integrated Laboratory School bested the other contestants in the Canciones de Pascua, the inter-elementary chorale competition and brought home the grand prize of P15,000.

Second placer in the canciones de Pascua was Tetuan Central School with P12,000 cash prize followed by Putik Central    School as third placer with P10,000. Fourth and fifth placers were ICAS Elementary School and Tugbungan Elementary School with P7,000 and P5,000 cash prize, respectively.

All winners in the different competitions also received trophies.

Mayor Beng Climaco personally led the awarding of prizes at the Jardin Maria Clara in Pasonanca coinciding with the Doce Dias de Hechos de Zamboanga, which also forms part of the Pascua na Zamboanga festivities. — Sheila Covarrubias
