City Police Director Sr. Supt. Angelito Casimiro announced yesterday that all issued firearms of policemen will be muzzled before Christmas Eve to ensure that they will not fire it during the celebration.

Casimiro said that precinct commanders will sign the muzzles of the firearms of men under them.

He said the muzzling of firearms is a reminder that a gun should be fired against the enemy of the state and not for any celebration because stray bullets are very dangerous once they fall down from the sky.

“Policemen already know the consequences if they are caught firing their guns indiscriminately,” Casimiro said.

The police directed has ordered all precinct commanders to check their men before the celebration of Christmas.

The Police Regional Office 9 has declared heightened alert this Christmas season.

Moreover, Casimiro said that precinct commanders are directed to conduct house-to-house information campaign on the total ban of pyrotechnics and firecrackers as they are dangerous to health and environment and most of all they can cause fire and destroy properties. —  Allen Abastillas
