The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) expects its political party to be put up in January 2015 as the Front’s members of the executive committee unanimously agreed in their meeting last weekend in Pagadian City which is related to and inspired by the process of the peace agreement.

Muslimin Sema, chairman of the MNLF Central Committee, said this welcomed turn of events includes an imperative to hold a larger leadership meeting of members of the Front’s Central Committee residing in the ARMM territory and in all other provinces of Mindanao in order to formulate the salient features of the political party.

Upon instruction of the Chairman, the MNLF General Secretariat headed by MNLF Secretary General Abdul “Kong” Sahrin is currently preparing the plan and all other programs related to this unanimously agreed decision to institutionalize an inclusive political party for the people under a parliamentary system of autonomous Bangsamoro Government.

Sahrin said this initiative to set up a political party came about as an afterglow when Sema of the MNLF and Murad of the MILF were able to unify their respective positions under the auspices of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) through convergence of the MNLF 1996 Final Peace Agreement (FPA) and the MILF Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) draft bill.

“This unification of the two fronts and convergence of their agreements have an emphasis stipulated in their Term of Reference and Final Communique signed recently on November 12- 13, 2014 to mutually respect and recognize each other’s organizational commitments to move forward in compliance with the Qur’anic Injunctions to help one another and unite for a good cause,” Sahrin said.

“Everyone is hopeful that after Congress shall have fine-tuned the convergence of the MNLF and the MILF Peace Agreements everything goes well smoothly and progressively,” Sahrin added.
