Jr. NBA, Alaska host cage clinic PDF Print E-mail

Hundreds of young basketball players joined the “Friendly Basketball Clinic,” sponsored by the Junior National Basketball Association (Jr-NBA) and Alaska Milk Corporation held at the Golden Boys Basketball gym last Sunday.

The participants learned basic basketball skills during the clinic and played in the small and big categories.

The occasion started with a simple program with District 2 Councilor Roel “Elong” Natividad giving the opening remarks. It was followed by an inspirational talk by Baliwasan Barangay Chairman Marxander Jaime “Boday” Cabato.

Rhayyan Amsali led the basketball pledge for all the participants.

Amsali, Alaska Youth Ambassador and part of the organizers, shared his blessings and achievements to Zamboangueños for the said occasion. He graduated elementary this year at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) and became one of the top 10 “Jr. NBA All Stars”.

Presently, Rhayyan plays as a small forward and as a shooting guard for the National University Bullpups.

The champion (A-small) in the one-day friendly basketball games Team 3 with players Jay Andrew Tuble, Celvin ray Giganto, Leomar Monge, Robert Balondo and Ivan Pandalan. 1st  runner-up went to Team 5 and 2nd  runner-up to Team 9.

The champion in the B-Big category was Team E with Khenjiel Kasim, Gio Sebastian, Joshua Palacio, Joseph James Hiso and Murphy Surbano, while 1st runner-up went to Team C.  2nd runner up was Team K.

The Mythical Five in the A-Small category was awarded to Sulit, Tan, Giganto, Yahiya and Chadiz while in the Big-Category was awarded to Christian Edward Morones, Murphy Surbano, Joseph James Hiso, Christian lim and Andre Basilio.

Most Valuable Player (MVP) was Delos Reyes.

The sport event was also sponsored by Family rubbing alcohol, Victor Ortega, Med Sahidulla and W-Salon. — Monch L. Follosco
