Mayor Beng Climaco yesterday welcomed Public Employment Service Office (PESO) managers from various parts of the region who are in the city for the annual performance assessment and general assembly.

The lady mayor thanked the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office for the assistance it continues to extend to the city in the aftermath of the September 2013 siege that had caused many to lose their livelihood.

Mayor Beng expressed gratitude for the allocation given to the city’s Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) program which benefited students from displaced families.

According to DOLE Regional Director Sisinio Cano, PESO managers and local chief executives have been contributory to the region’s ranking as one of the top three top-performing PESO in the country during the department’s year-end assessment.

He likewise announced that because of the region’s good showing last year, the region’s allocated budget for its SPES program had been increased from P30M in 2014 to P46M this year. He assured PESO managers that the said budget will be distributed equitably to all DOLE field offices in the peninsula to benefit as many students as possible.

To this end, Regional Director Cano challenged PESO managers to maintain the timeliness of program implementation.
