Brgy peacekeeper hurt in clash with Sulu Abus PDF Print E-mail

A member of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) was wounded in a clash with Abu Sayyaf gunmen in Talipao, Sulu Saturday morning.

A police report disclosed that BPAT and Abu Sayyaf gunmen clashed near Barangay Kiyutaan, Talipao, Sulu around 6a.m.

Police said the BPAT led by Councilor Lakim Uddin was harassed  some 30 gunmen believed to be members of the Abu Sayyaf group under sub leaders Angga Adji and Roger Saji.

BPAT said the armed group initiated the attack by firing several rounds of M203 grenade launcher aimed towards the them, which prompted the barangay peacekeepers to return fire.

The firefight lasted for almost 10 minutes that resulted in the woundng of Akmad Aburan. It was not sure if the Abu Sayyaf suffered casualties in the encounter.
