Tricycle operators in Zamboanga City will have until Jan. 20 to pay their franchise taxes for the year, the city government said.

A post on the city government’s social media account said the Tricycle Adjudication Board started processing franchise tax payments and franchise renewals January 5.

“Franchise owners up for renewal may also avail of the Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) set up for a faster and more efficient renewal process,” it said.

Citing TAB records, the city government said there are some 7,000 tricycle franchise holders in Zamboanga City.

It added the TAB has extended its office hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

Late payment of franchise taxes and renewal will result in higher fees, penalties, and possible sanctions, the city government warned.

It said late registration may mean full payment of all unpaid fees plus 50 percent surcharges.

A 25-percent surcharge will be collected for charges and dues paid after January 20, and an interest of two percent per month until paid. — GMA News
